Welcome to 2nd Grade!

Esther Hitchcock

I am thrilled to be back at Devinny Elementary and be a part of Devinny’s 2nd grade team!  I began my teaching career in 2000 and joined Jeffco Public schools 8 years ago. Prior to that, I taught in Boulder and Denver. All of which has been in the primary grades (kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade). I've been at Devinny for 4 years and am excited to start another year! I'm originally from the east coast, New York and New Jersey. I moved to Colorado in 2000 seeking a new adventure where it quickly became my new home. I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and my Masters in Linguistically Diverse Education (ESL) at the University of Colorado Denver.

I love spending time with my family! I have a wonderful husband (from Green Bay), 2 young children and a dog, Lambeau (Go Pack Go!). I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening and going to music festivals in the summer. I believe in open communication and collaboration. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or information that you’d like to share. I look forward to a wonderful year ahead with this fabulous group of 2nd graders!!

I am so excited to be back as a member of the Devinny Family and look forward to being your child’s teacher this year! This is my 18th year as an educator. The first seven years, I taught in a parochial school and the past 11 in Jefferson County. My Bachelor’s degree is from Metropolitan State College of Denver and my Master’s degree is from the University of Colorado Denver.

I am a Denver native and grew up in beautiful and culturally diverse North Denver, sometimes referred to as the Highlands. This year my husband Ken and I will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We have two children, Aaron our son is 29 and is a Surety Bond Executive who celebrated his third anniversary in June to our beautiful daughter-in-law Taylor who is a Speech Pathologist, and our daughter Claire who is 24 and an Inside Wholesale Financial Broker. Both of our kids, as well as our daughter-in-law are graduates of Regis University. We are excitedly awaiting the birth of our first grandchild in September. I am a huge baseball fan and absolutely love to fly fish in the beautiful mountains of Colorado every chance I get. This year my husband is going to teach me how to tie my own flies!
